Modelling Competition

G’day Modellers!

Time to get out your glues, paints and tools! The National N Scale Convention 2024 modelling competition is on!

The competition is not so much about winning a prize, but an opportunity to hone your skills and challenge yourself, as well as providing inspiration for others.
Whether you are new to model building, or an old hand, we encourage you to enter as a way of learning and building new skills.

This year there are 4 categories – Motive power, rolling stock, line-side (town buildings, etc.), and the construction of a diorama (on a base of 310mm x 310mm).

Entries will be evaluated on the basis of build quality, painting and weathering, creativity and originality. Awards and commendations will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and an overall Best in Show by the judging panel and, in addition, there will be a People’s Prize in each category.

Models can be entered up to 11 am Saturday, accompanied by a supplied card showing the contributors name, a description of the model, and the category being entered. Each exhibitor can only enter one entry per category, but modellers may enter more than one category.

• 1. Locomotive

  Anything on the rails self-propelled

• 2. Rollingstock

  Anything on the rails not self-propelled

• 3. Line-side

  Everything else not classified in the above two categories

• 4. Diorama

  A diorama no bigger than 310mm (L) x 310mm (W)
